About Us

United Tool Col, Inc. was the first job shop in Wabash with CNC mills and network programming. It started in what is now Thermafiber Fabrication Shop as Temple Machine & Tool. Their primary transactions at this time were cutter heads, profile knives for the woodworking industry, and some fabrication for local industry.

In June 1966, the company changed hands and its new owner, Wisconsin Knife, ordered a name change and reorganization. The newly created United Tool pursued design fabrication of special machinery. Some of its early customers included RCA, General Tire, and Diehls Machine.

Mr. Bechtol was designing for R.C.A. and other local companies at the time, until he and his son stepped in to United Tool to develop the company’s machine shop capabilities.

Current president Mike Bechtol took over after his father’s passing in January 1994; Troy Poland aids him as vice president.
